Pregnancy through surrogacy brings its own emotional rhythm: the joy of expectancy mixed with the complexity of watching someone else carry your child. In this post, we talk about the ups and downs intended parents often experience during the pregnancy itself.

That first positive pregnancy test often brings tears, joy, and disbelief. After everything, this is really happening. Each milestone—heartbeat confirmations, ultrasound photos, updates from the surrogate—brings waves of excitement and cautious hope.

Still, anxiety is normal. Not being physically pregnant yourself can feel like a loss for some, especially for intended mothers. Seeing a baby bump that’s not your own might spark grief, even while you’re grateful. It’s okay to feel both.

Staying involved helps. Attend appointments, join video calls, send voice recordings to the baby. These moments foster connection and begin the bonding process.

And the bond with your surrogate may deepen, too. Watching her care for your baby with love and dedication can feel humbling and awe-inspiring. You may find yourself growing closer than you expected.

As the due date nears, nerves often rise. That’s normal. Communicating about the birth plan, preparing the nursery, journaling or nesting emotionally—all of these help channel anxious energy into loving readiness.

Pregnancy from afar is still deeply emotional and real. Your baby is growing, and so is your connection. This is your journey, and it’s okay to feel it all.
